Dark Blue (dark) - 2 squares 5 3/16” cut into 4 triangles. Cut corner to corner and corner to corner (8 triangles total)
Green (med. dark) - 2 squares 2 7/8” cut in half diagonally (4 triangles total)
Med. blue (med.) - 1 square 5 3/16” cut into 4 triangles (4 triangles total)
Yellow (med. light) - 2 squares 4 7/8” cut in half diagonally (4 triangles total)
- 1 square 3 5/16”
Light blue (light) - 2 squares 4 7/8” cut in half diagonally (4 triangles total)
- 1 square 5 3/16” cut into 4 triangles (4 triangles total)
This block will be made into 3 sections on the diagonal that will then be sewed together.
1. To make these flying geese units take a dark blue triangle and lay the long side (hypotenuse) along the short side (adjacent) of the yellow. The short side (adjacent) of the dark blue has to be level with the long side (hypotenuse). Sew along the angle. Press blue triangle out. Then on the other short side of the yellow (adjacent) do the same with another blue triangle. Open this one up. Trip little tips that are sticking out and trim the point to a ¼” so that when you sew this unit you will have a perfect point on the yellow. Make four flying geese units.
2. Now take the 4 small light blue triangles and with the short sides sew them to 2 of the flying geese units. You will put one on each end of the flying geese unit. Make sure when you lay them right sides together that the other short end is aligned with the yellow of the flying geese unit. It will look like this when sewn. You will have 2 of these units. Press seams in.
3. Now take 2 of the larger light blue triangles and sew them to the 2 units along the dark blue of the flying geese. Your 2 end units are now complete.
Centre Unit
1. Referring to the instructions starting at #3 in Block #4 December make a square in a square unit. You will use the yellow square and the 4 green triangles.

Now all four triangles are on and you turn the block 45 degrees.
2. Now add the med. blue triangles to the above square in a square doing the same as you did in the above instructions but do not turn it 45 degrees at the end.

3. Now take the last 2 flying geese units and sew them onto the ends of the unit you just made. Look at diagram to see exactly how they are placed.

Now sew Unit 1 to Unit 2

And then Unit 3 to Unit 2

Remember: Light blue – lightest colour
Yellow – next darkest
Med. Blue – next darkest
Green – next darkest
Dark Blue - darkestBlock #6
