Unit #1

2.  Now lay 1 light blue & yellow half square triangle over a dark blue and yellow half square triangle.  Lay the yellow of the yellow & light blue on top of the dark blue triangle.  So, light blue against yellow, yellow against dark blue.  Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner and sew a ¼” seam on each side of the line.  Cut on the line.  Press open.  Proof to a 4.5” square.  You will now have 4 quarter square triangles.

Unit #2

1.  Lay one green square (med. dark) on top of one med. blue (med.) square.  Draw a line from one corner to the opposite corner, just like above, sewing ¼” on each side of the line.  Cut down the line and press open to the green side.  Proof to 5”.  You now have 2 half square triangle units.

2.  Now lay the light blue (ligh) (5”) squares on top of the blue & green ½ square triangles.  Draw a line diagonally from the green corner to the blue corner.  Sew ¼” seam on both sides of the line.  Cut on the line.  Open up and press to the light blue.  Proof to 4.5”.  You now have 4 hybrid square triangle units.

Putting it altogether

1.  Sew a hybrid sq. triangle (Unit #2) on each side of a Unit #1.  Make sure the green (med. dark) is against the yellow (med. light).  Do this for Row 1 & Row 3.  Press seams out.

2.  Sew a quarter square triangle to the med. blue (med.) 4.5” square making sure that the dark blue (dark) is against the med. blue (med.).  This is Row 2.  Press seams in.

3.  Now sew Row 1 to 2 and Row 3 to 2.  Press seams out.  Proof to 12.5”
